Rascal Flatts Opening Concept Restaurant in Cleveland
Country music and good cooking seem to go hand in hand: Trisha Yearwood has her own cooking show, Little Big Town‘s Kimberly Schlapman (among others) has published a cookbook, and Dierks Bentley has his Whiskey Row restaurants. Now, Rascal Flatts are becoming restaurateurs in Cleveland, Ohio.
Cleveland.com reports that the country trio plans to open a 10,000-square-foot restaurant and bar in the city in 2016. The eatery will be located at the Flats East Bank project — a waterfront redevelopment with an 18-story office tower, hotel, fitness club, entertainment venues, an extensive riverfront boardwalk and a range of restaurants — on the ground floor of an apartment building, facing the river. The restaurant is described as an “eclectic space” mixing “country themes with rustic and industrial stylings” and includes a 3,200-square-foot patio and indoor performance areas.
Exterior plans for the restaurant were approved by a Cleveland design-review committee on April 1.
“A restaurant supported by a national name like Rascal Flatts is the perfect addition to the Flats East Bank,” says developer Scott Wolstein. “From the beginning, we set out to build an urban waterfront destination, and we’re excited to be able to offer this type of concept in conjunction with our existing restaurants and entertainment venues. It’s also a testament to Cleveland’s resurgence for us to be able to attract these types of businesses.”
While there’s not a set grand opening date, Fairmount Properties’ Adam Fishman points to late summer or early fall.
“To land what we think is the quintessential country music band to be the host of a rotating series of live country music acts is going to bring a whole different crowd to downtown Cleveland,” Fishman says.
Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were born in Columbus, Ohio, and LeVox graduated from Ohio State University. The group will hit the road this summer for their 2016 Rhythm & Roots Tour. It kicks off on June 17 and runs through Sept. 17. Rising country star Kelsea Ballerini, as well as newcomer Chris Lane, will open.
