Police in Levelland have apprehended a suspect they believe shot and killed a Lubbock man in the parking lot of a church.

According to Everything Lubbock, 55-year-old Pete Garcia Jr. was arrested and booked into the Hockley County jail Sunday night (Feb. 7).

Garcia is currently being held on a $1 million bond and charged for the murder of Orestes Garza.

Garza was shot and killed late Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Lubbock.

According to Lubbock police, Garcia had a previous relationship with Garza's current girlfriend, who was present at the time of the shooting.
