Texas Tech football had a special guest Saturday morning in Lubbock: former Texas Tech quarterback and current Kansas City Chief Patrick Mahomes.

Unfortunately, Mahomes' appearance didn't seem to have any noticeable impact on his former team's performance.

Despite a promising start when Justus Parker grabbed an interception on the Cyclones' opening drive and the team then notched an early touchdown, a missed PAT by place kicker Michael Ewton set a tone for the rest of the game.

The Red Raiders were unable to find their offensive footing from that point forward, adding just another seven points throughout the rest of the game.

Texas Tech fell to Iowa State, 31-13.
