Based on any set of definable metrics, Patrick Mahomes has to be considered a top 10 quarterback. And after Saturday's gutsy performance against TCU, Mahomes showed he is also one of the toughest.

Mahomes' is on pace for 5,600 yards, 44 touchdowns and only 12 ints, all while only taking one sack. He has led the Red Raiders to a 3-1 record with their only loss coming against the no. 3 team in the nation. He is also a true sophomore.

Is there any one else in the nation you would want to quarterback the Red Raiders?

I'm not ready to say that Mahomes is a Heisman candidate or that he's the best quarterback in the country, but I think he's doing enough to put himself into the conversation.

There are more experienced quarterbacks, like TCU's Trevone Boykin or USC's Cody Kessler. There are quarterbacks that are inflated by the system they run, like Baylor's Seth Russell. At the risk of readers boycotting, OU's Baker Mayfield is putting together a pretty solid season, too.

But are they better than Mahomes?

I'm not calling for a movement or blowing the whistle to bring you onto the Mahomes bandwagon. I'm not asking you to make "MaHomie" shirts to signify you as part of his fandom like 1Directioners or Beliebers (though that would be pretty great). But I do think he warrants some recognition as to why the 2015 Texas Tech team has so much hype right now.

If Mahomes isn't the best quarterback in the NCAA right now, who is?

By total QBR, it's Seth Russell. By touchdown passes, it's Cody Kessler. It isn't Cardale Jones. Trevone Boykin can throw it to Josh Doctson as well as anyone else could.

Have I left someone out? I want to know what you think.
