Both Duru and Lopez (pictured, immediate left) have been charged with Aggravated Assault, a second degree felony.

No bond amounts have been set for either individual.

 

 


UPDATED 6:30 p.m., July 24, 2015

Lubbock Police have announced they have arrested the second suspect in this assault case. Twenty-eight-year-old Alfredo Mozart Lopez was arrested just after 5:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Kline Avenue, which near 4th Street & Milwaukee Avenue in northwest Lubbock.

Lubbock Police have arrested one of the two men suspected of assaulting a Texas Tech student at an apartment complex last weekend.

Twenty-one-year-old Brad Duru (pictured) is currently in custody at the Lubbock County Jail. KAMC News reports he turned himself in to police early Friday morning (July 24). So far, no charges have been filed against Duru.

Duru and a second suspect, 28-year-old Alfredo Mozart Lopez, are accused of assaulting 24 year-old Gregory Avari at the University Trails Apartments in the 2200 block of Main Street this past Sunday, July 19.

Avari was so badly beaten that he suffered life-threatening injuries. He is still being treated at UMC.

Police are still searching for 28-year-old Alfredo Lopez and are asking for tips to be called into the Crime Line at 741-1000.
