A shooting in East Lubbock left Lubbock police searching for a victim, who they later found at UMC in critical condition, before making one arrest.

Early in the afternoon of Monday, November 2, Lubbock police were dispatched to the 200 block of 37th street to calls of shots fired.

Police were unable to find a victim until they called UMC to learn that 22-year-old Demonte Scaife had been brought in with a gunshot wound. Scaife is listed in critical condition.

Detective were able to arrest Keyvon Patrick Manahan, 19, for the shooting based on probable cause.

Neither a motive for the shooting, nor Manahan’s relation to Scaife has been determined.

Manahan remains in the Lubbock County Jail with bail set at $25,000. A lawyer for Manahan has not been listed.
