Actor/comedian/emcee Howie Mandel has managed to not only survive the competitiveness of television, but score major successes in what he touches. And NBC has him lined up for a new game show, "Howie Mandel's White Elephant". The premise, based on the popular holiday game, is that six contestants select one package from an assortment of gifts and decide whether to keep their unopened prize or steal someone else's. In the seven episode series it finally is narrowed down to two finalists.

For the last few years Mandel's been known as one of the judges on "America's Got Talent", keeping him in the public eye. Before that he hosted "Deal or No Deal" and "Howie Do It". The Canadian comic actor came to be noticed from his work in the television show "St. Elsewhere" and several films.

His comedy is not knee-slapping funny to me but he has a certain charm. And one thing about this guy you gotta like is that he's one of the few in Hollywood who has been married over twenty years to the same person. With filming yet to begin on the new game show, here's hoping he'll score another success in his career.
