NASA’s Newest Images of Texas Night Lights Are the Clearest Ever
From left to right, you’re seeing San Antonio strung into a rather dimly lit Austin. The big hazy city is the Dallas Metroplex (it was very cloudy there that night). The very large and very well lit city is Houston and Galveston is the bottom right “L” shape.
According to NASA:
One of the Expedition 36 crew members aboard the International Space Station, some 240 miles above Earth, used a 50mm lens to record this oblique nighttime image of a large part of the nation’s second largest state in area, including the four largest metropolitan areas in population. The extent of the metropolitan areas is easily visible at night due to city and highway lights.
Soothing, lovely, calm. That’s how I feel looking at this image of Texas night lights. I’m sentimental about my home state and all the unique, amazing cites I’ve visited here.
