McLane Carter Is Tired of Texas Tech Losing

McLane Carter enters his second full season as a quarterback for the Red Raiders in 2018, and after a full year in Lubbock behind him, he's locked in and more focused for the upcoming season.

"First year, kinda get acclimated to Lubbock, your friends, where you're living, which is way different than the piney woods where I'm from," Carter told 1340 The Fan's Rob Breaux during a talk at Texas Tech's 2018 football media day. "Now I'm here, I'm more focused, coming in a lot more often ready to work."

With Carter being one of the three possible quarterbacks that could start the season, he will definitely need to come in being as focused as he says he is, especially with the QB race being as open as it is.

After being ranked #16 in total offense last season, Carter had no qualms about the Red Raiders being a top 5 offense this season.

"Oh yeah, we'll be back," Carter said, adding: "With a strong offensive line, strong receivers, great running backs, and a different mentality. We're going to be ready to go."

One of the biggest takeaways from the interview with Carter was that he shares a sentiment that many, many Texas Tech fans have shared the past couple of years.

"We're tired of losing and tired of not performing," Carter said. "Sometimes we would come off hot in games, we'd come out playing very well then hit a little lull and we've gotta jump past that. You've got to want it more than the other team."
