Officers saw the vehicle speeding through a road construction area which started the pursuit.

This morning, Sunday, January 24, 2016 at approximately 3:45 a.m., a patrol officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the 1100 block of Southeast Loop 289. The vehicle was observed driving at a high rate of speed through a road construction area that was barricaded with traffic cones. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued until the the officer lost the suspect in the area of CR 2720 and CR 7700 just south of the City limits.

A short time later, the same suspect led Deputies with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office in a pursuit back into the City and LPD officers joined the pursuit. The suspect evaded officers for several minutes before a Deputy with the LSO successfully deployed tire spikes bringing the pursuit to a safe stop. The vehicle turned out to be a stolen.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility and booked in.
