Animal lovers and pet owners often try to capture the personality of their pet for posterity.  Sometimes it works, but more often than not, it's just a picture of a blurred animal.

There is, however, a professional photographer in Lubbock who has devoted his gift of photography toward capturing a pet's true essence in natural settings.

We recently spoke with Ronnie Hill, who started taking pictures of he and his wife's pets years ago and has since spun it off into a proper business in Pet Photography of Lubbock.

Hill brought up a good point: having photographs of our pets are great ways to remember them and cherish the time we had with them. We often outlive our faithful companions. Pictures are a great way to keep their memories alive.

Hill photographs animals of all kinds, including cats, dogs, horses, as well as working and herd animals such as Border Collies and Australian Shepherds. And with hunting season upon us, he's currently photographing working pointers and retrievers, and their owners, in natural fall settings.

Hill told me he wants to do more than take pictures; he "wants to create pieces of art." He knows how to get "down on a pet's level." Judging by his portfolio, it's clear he has the patience to allow him to capture natural movement and emotional expressions "that will touch the hearts and souls of pet owners."

We're also are offering a chance to win one of his packages just in time for the upcoming holidays. You can register to win it below.
