Another senseless murder in Lubbock has left residents saddened and shocked at the death of a talented man with a great heart.

Lubbock singer, songwriter and pastor West Garza was fatally shot Sunday evening, Feb. 7, 2016 outside his church in Lubbock. The shooter has been arrested.

We spoke with Jimmy Dunn, co-owner of The Mean Woman Grill, about West Garza, who not only played there frequently but also wrote and sang their theme song.

Dunn called Garza an "all-around nice guy."

"I think that's what affected us so much, particularly me. Since I have known him, I've always thought of him as one of the finest examples of a musician," said Dunn. "Of course he was very religious and practiced that religion and in fact was a minister, and he was just an all around nice guy."

Dunn said he didn't know if a memorial fund or official GoFundMe page has been set up to help Garza's family with funeral expenses. We will keep you updated on that.

In the meantime, please join us in praying for West Garza's family and friends and all who have been devastated by the tragic loss of one of Lubbock's really good people.
