Tuesday afternoon (July 14), a Lubbock County Grand Jury handed down an indictment in the Mark Ysasaga murder case. Twenty-year-old Jose Simental was indicted on a murder charge in connection with Ysasaga's death.

Mark Ysasaga was 15 years old when he went missing from his Lubbock home in June of 2012. His remains were found last month in a field near US Highway 87 and 120th Street in South Lubbock County.

Simental's former roommate, Christian Castro, was named as a person of interest in the Ysasaga murder case, but so far no charges have been filed against him.

In addition to the indictment on the murder charge, Simental was previously indicted on a felony charge of Burglary of a Habitation and he currently has 10 different charges against him for traffic violations including speeding and failure to give information.

Simental will continue to be kept in custody at the Lubbock County Jail. He was transferred to Lubbock in May while serving jail time in another part of the state.
