At last week's council meeting, on October 27, the council voted to name City Attorney Chad Weaver interim city manager. Weaver will move to the interim city manager position on November 18 when Loomis officially retires.

Mitch Satterwhite (pictured), who currently serves as Lubbock's First Assistant City Attorney, was voted to serve as interim city attorney, starting November 18.

“Mitch is a dedicated servant to the City, who has twice stepped up to the plate when asked by the Council to act as Interim City Attorney,” Mayor Dan Pope said. “The City will be in good hands during the transition.”

According to the City of Lubbock, Satterwhite has been with the City Attorney’s Office since March 2004. He’s currently the second-in-command of the city's legal department as First Assistant City Attorney. Satterwhite previously served as Interim City Attorney in two separate stints in 2009 and in 2014.

“It’s an honor to have been asked by the Council to fill in for Chad until our new leadership team is in place,” Satterwhite said. “I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I appreciate the Council’s confidence in me.”

Last week, the city council interviewed four finalists for the city manager's position and a sole finalist could be named later this month, or in December.

Once the new city manager begins work for the city, Weaver and Satterwhite will return to their previous positions.
