Over the weekend, Lauren Alaina was able to take a break from work to celebrate a milestone ... her 18th birthday! The singer thought it would be a quiet night out with friends, but soon found her friends had bigger plans.

Alaina was surprised by a prom-themed birthday bash thrown by her mother, who hired party planner Jayne Bubis. The star was not able to attend her own Junior Prom due to the hectic touring life she leads these days.

The 'Eighteen Inches' songstress was under the impression that she was going to dinner with a small group of family and friends to celebrate her big day when she was taken to a location in her hometown of Rossville, Ga. where members of her high school and family were waiting.

And what's a prom without the proper attire? They were on top of that as well. Waiting for Alaina at the party was a knockout gown for her to slip into. Perhaps the most emotional surprise was Springfield, Va. high schooler Jordan Trunfio, the young man with a brain tumor Alaina surprised at his school's homecoming dance a few weeks ago.

Next up for the birthday girl (her actual birthday was Nov. 8) is the 2012 American Country Awards where she is nominated for Artist of the Year: New Artist. Tune into the ACA's when it airs on FOX on Monday, Dec. 10, live from Las Vegas.
