Kliff Kingsbury will soon be a member of the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. The induction will be on May 5th in Waco, Texas. Kingsbury is the representative for the decade of the 1990's.

Kingsbury isn't the only Red Raider that will be inducted this Spring. The six player class will also include former Texas Tech running back Bobby Cavazos.

The rest of the HOF class broken down by decade includes, The 1960's Brad Dusek (Temple), the 1970's Ken Washington (Port Arthur Lincoln), the 1980's Tommy Jeter (Deer Park) and a former Longhorn for the 2000's Johnathan Gray (Aledo).

Long before Kliff Kingsbury was giving birth to the Air Raid Era with Mike Leach in Lubbock he was writing his own records at New Braunfels High School. Kingsbury threw for 3,009 yards and 34 touchdowns as a senior going to the 5A Division II State Semifinals. The successful season earned Kingsbury, who was also an academic all-state selection in high school, a scholarship offer from Texas Tech.

While at Texas Tech Kingsbury set 39 school records while playing quarterback for the Red Raiders, as well as seven NCAA records.

Kingsbury finished with 12,429 yards and 95 touchdowns. Kingsbury's senior year featured a 5,017 yard, 45 touchdown season that resulted in a Sammy Baugh Trophy.

According to texastech.com, Bobby Cavazos was a three-sport athlete at Kingsville High School where he was a two-time All-South Texas athlete. Cavazos' high school prowess led him to a Texas Tech career where he rushed for a then school record 2,278 and 35 touchdowns from 1951-53.

The Texas High School Football Hall of Fame will be held at 6 p.m. on May 5 inside the Farrell Center on the campus of Baylor University in Waco. Tickets are $45 for adults and $15 for students.
