The One ‘Really Bad’ Play Kliff Kingsbury Regrets Calling Against Louisiana Tech [Video]

Louisiana Tech didn't go down easily against Texas Tech. And if you believe Kliff Kingsbury, the Red Raiders' downward slide started with one bad play call he made.

During a post-game q&a in Lubbock, the head coach admitted the team's defense was "not good enough." Texas Tech allowed four touchdowns on five Louisiana Tech drives in the second half.

But according to Kingsbury, a bad play call he made just before the end of the first half came back to haunt the team.

"I had a really bad play call there, it was 35-10. I tried to throw it, which was dumb, on first down and three. We lose yards, we missed the field goal and they come down right before the half and score and we didn't recover," Kingsbury told the media. "It was the same type of adversity last week [in Arizona] when we recovered the fumble and got it called back and didn't recover from that."

Kingsbury added that the defense needs to be able to recover when things don't go the team's way.

"So defensively, when stuff goes wrong, we got to be able to stand up and we have not proven that yet," he said.

Texas Tech held off a Louisiana Tech comeback, winning the game 59-45.

Texas Tech has a bye this week. The Red Raiders return to action against Kansas Thursday, September 29 in Lubbock. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
