Kenny Chesney Scores 29th No. 1 Hit With ‘Setting the World on Fire’
Kenny Chesney is "Setting the World on Fire" indeed, as the track off his new album Cosmic Hallelujah claims the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay and the Mediabase Country Airplay charts.
The song features Pink, and Chesney actually held up the release of the album and changed its title after adding the track to the mix.
"I knew the moment I heard this song, it was exactly the moment of life and love exploding, and everything turning Technicolor," Chesney says in a press release. "Finding songs that are in the moment are harder, but in this kind of moment, it’s almost impossible. And the idea of bringing Pink in adds to that sense of this song is happening as we sing it. It’s funny how people respond to stuff that feels real and right now."
The song marks Chesney’s 29th No. 1 hit to date, preceded by the four No. 1 singles he enjoyed from his previous album, The Big Revival, that included “American Kids” and “Save It for a Rainy Day.”
"Sometimes a record turns, and it takes a moment to catch up," Chesney says about the new album. "When we moved into ‘Setting the World on Fire,’ I think the whole vision fell into a new place -- and it was a really good place. Watching the response, it makes me feel like a lot of people feel like I do -- so this record should hit ’em right where they live."
Written by Josh Osborne, Ross Copperman and Matt Jenkins, "Setting the World on Fire" has also spent multiple weeks topping the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Cosmic Hallelujah was released on Friday (Oct. 28).
