Josh, who will perform at the Miranda Lambert concert in Lubbock in April, tells the Associated Press that he and his brother were approached when they were "about fourteen"  with a contract from Larry Friday who managed James Brown.  He told them "We're going to go to New York.  You're going to do a big CD release party and all the finest girls in the world are going to be there....Champagne!"  But their father refused to sign because of their age.

Josh says he has no idea what he and his brother would be doing now if they had signed that record deal when they were 14 and 15. I'd say they've done pretty good without it.  Charles is enjoying huge success with Lady Antebellum and Josh, touring with Miranda Lambert,  is releasing his first country album, and by the way is married to Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl.  Not too bad.
