Kids love Halloween, but unfortunately not every child is able to participate due to food allergies. That's why the Teal Pumpkin Project was created.

The Teal Pumpkin Project was created in 2014 and is designed to raise awareness of food allergies and to promote inclusion of all kids on Halloween. It's a way to show that your home is giving out safe treats to those with food allergies.

Brenda Duby with United Supermarkets joined me today to discuss how Market Street is involved.

Duby said all you have to do is place a teal-colored pumpkin on your porch. Market Street locations have kits available for you to paint your pumpkin teal, as well as teal pumpkins. The stores will also have items such as stickers and toys that you can hand out, plus treats that don't have food allergens.

You can find out more about Market Street's involvement and other Halloween ideas at their blog.
