In early May, Baur passed away from Alzheimer's and his family honored his earlier request that he be buried in a Pringles can. According to this website, his eldest son Larry says they stopped at a Walgreen's for a burial can. "My siblings and I briefly debated what flavor to use, but I said, 'Look, we need to use the original'." Other sources confirm part of Baur's cremated remains were indeed put in a Pringles' can and placed in his grave.

Personally, I think Dr. Baur is one of the great American heroes, inventing a snack that's not only delicious but proved very profitable for Proctor and Gamble which sold the brand in April for $2.35 billion dollars. I salute you, Dr. Baur, and I might add, "Goodbye, Mr. Chips!"
