We have all had times in our lives when we could benefit from professional counseling. Life has its ups and downs, and we all experience traumatic and difficult life events. We could be struggling with divorces, job loss, addiction, stress or the death of a loved one.

I am not ashamed to say that I needed, and received, counseling after my divorce. I was not dealing with the loss of full-time interaction with my step-children well at all. I missed them terribly; I felt like I failed them because I could not make the relationship with their dad work after eight years and I was spiraling. I felt like I was suffocating, buried deep in my own sadness. I was depressed and stressed out, and I needed a professional to talk to about it.

Quite frankly, another source of stress that commonly comes with divorce besides the failed relationships is being totally broke. I needed help, but I couldn't afford it.

That's when Covenant's Counseling Center saved me. I showed them my pay stubs and they put me on a sliding scale. I was paying a measly $8 a session for a service I truly benefited from. There were days I didn't even have the $8. They saw me anyway, and let me pay them back later.

If you need counseling for anything, including marriage or family counseling, they've got your back. If you're struggling with addiction, they have experts to help you get your life in order. There's no shame in it and it really can turn your life around.
