How I Deal With A Bad Day
It seems that lately - for whatever reason - I've had a string of bad luck. Well, some call it bad luck, others call it life - I call it Murphy's Law. Because for the last couple of months it seems that "anything that could go wrong - WENT WRONG!"
Funny how things like this goes in cycles - at least for me anyway. In the past couple of months I've dealt with death, financial debacles, family arguments, work struggles and over all bad days...just to name a few. But I know, and believe, that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger (or screw us up mentally).
So I thought I would share with you what it is that I do when times get tough. First and foremost I turn to God - then I turn to music. All types of music, from classical to heavy metal - old to new - and even a little rap (yes, I have some Eminem in my playlist - don't judge me!)
Reading inspirational quotes is another therapy I use. Here are some of my favorites - and who knows, maybe one or more of these might help you out when you're having a bad day!
"Just as despair can come to one only from other human beings, hope, too, can be given to one only by other human beings." – Elie Weisel
"Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines." – Robert Schuller
"The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials." – Chinese Proverb
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” — Winston Churchill
“Acknowledge that you failed, draw your lessons from it, and use it to your advantage to make sure it never happens again.” — Michael Johnson
“It is never too late to be who you might have been.” — George Eliot
“When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.” – Unknown
“Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.” — Zig Ziglar
“You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness.” ― Jonathan Safran Foer
“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.” ― Brian Jacques, Taggerung
There will be days that are bad and days that are good - and we all deal with bad times differently. But remember, you are allowed to take a pause from life from time to time to regroup. And as my mother always tells me - "Amy, this too shall pass."
