Kacey Musgraves Joins All-Star Tribute to Orlando Shooting Victims [Listen]
Kacey Musgraves has joined forces with several artists for "Hands," a song written and released to raise money for victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Fla., last month.
"I'm so incredibly proud to be a part of this gorgeous musical tribute, 'Hands,' with a ton of great artists. [I'm sandwiched between @selenagomez & Mary J. Blige] It was written by some of my friends. Please go download. All proceeds go towards the victims of the Orlando tragedy and to LGBT organizations," Musgraves writes on Instagram.
Country's Ty Herndon is also featured on the song alongside Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Halsey, Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Jussie Smollett, Britney Spears, Troye Sivan, Gomez, Gwen Stefani, Meghan Trainor and the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.
"Hands" was written by Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels and produced by BloodPop, Mark Ronson and Tranter. According to Billboard, money raised from the song will aid families with medical care, counseling as well as be used for education.
"Like the rest of the world I woke up to the news that morning and was horrified and sad and scared," Tranter told Billboard. "I'm not educated enough to speak on the political details. I'm a songwriter, not a politician. It could have been a million things but clearly, 100 percent, this was an attack on the LGBT community and people of color."
