One of the biggest grilling holidays is fast approaching. Labor Day is our last summer hurrah.

We all lead such busy lives and although my husband and I love shish kabobs, we don't love the time it takes to cut up the meat and vegetables and get them skewered.

I talked with Brenda Duby with the United Supermarket families and she had a wonderful suggestion that we have incorporated and it's awesome.

Whether I've made chicken, fish, pork or shrimp kabobs in the past, the main worry I have is how not to burn the vegetables on the skewers between the chunks of meat.

I discovered grill mats from my mother-in-law and they have saved the day for me. Simply place your skewers on the mats on medium heat and voila! You end up with everything grilled evenly.

Brenda also pointed out the nutritional value of kabobs, especially for those of us who follow a paleo-eating plan.

So don't stress on prep. And don't forget: you can get your kabobs ready made at United, Market Street, Amigos or Albertsons!. They're affordable, delicious and save a ton of time.
