George and Tammy Say I Do [VIDEO]

On this day in 1968 George Jones and Tammy Wynette got married. She was known as the "first lady of country music". Jones was know as "the possum".

When they tied the knot, Jones moved over to Epic records, the label that Wynette recorded for and he would stay there for 20 years.

Together they recorded three Number one songs one of which was "We're Gonna Hold On", which hit the top of the charts in 1973.

Two years later in 1975, they divorced.
