The creator behind the series "Family Guy", Seth McFarland, is joining with a former producer of "Gilmore Girls" to create new episodes of "The Flintstones" that'll debut on Fox in 2013. According to Reuters, "Family Guy" is the first animated comedy to be nominated for an Emmy since "The Flintstones" in 1961.

McFarland tells The Los Angeles Times, "The characters in the new series will look the same but the only thing that will change is the stories. What's the prehistoric version of an Ipod?" And he thinks, "America is finally ready for an animated sitcom about a fat, stupid guy with a wife who's too good for him".   Production is due to start this fall, with the launch in 2013.  Here's how it all started.
