This being Monday, the first day of the week, I thought about featuring the first hit songs from country music's biggest stars and those who's star may have faded a bit but everyone still knows them.

Clint Black was born in New Jersey but grew up in Houston. He dropped out of high school to play music and after building up a reputation around the Houston area, RCA Records came calling and signed him to a contract in 1987.

He hit with a number one song with his first release in 1989 called "Better Man." Including "Better Man," Black had four straight number one songs.

Black won the CMA's Horizon Award in 1989 and the next year took home the male vocalist of the year award.
