Elvis Releases His First Single [VIDEO]

flickr user oddsock

On this day in 1954, it all started for Elvis Presley. Today is day that Sun Records in Memphis released the King of Rock and Roll’s first single, “That’s All Right Mama”.

Before  this Elvis would stop into Sun Records and record some demos. This peaked the interest of the owner of the recording studio Sam Phillips. He teamed Elvis with guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black and recorded the song which was originally done as a blues tune by Arthur Crudup.

Critics point out the song is a blend of R&B and Country and becoming what is called Rock-a-billy.

It was the song that would start it all for the King of Rock and Roll.
