Eddie Montgomery's wife Jennifer made a statement after Montgomery Gentry's Troy Gentry was laid to rest, thanking all all who offered prayers during a very difficult week.

Jennifer Montgomery appears to be speaking on her husband's behalf in a tweet sent on Friday (Sept. 15). Eddie has not made a public statement on his @LuckyManEddie Twitter account or elsewhere in the 10 days since Gentry's death in a helicopter crash.

"Friends like you have helped us get through this difficult time," Jennifer says in a tweet, likely meaning the couple's personal friends and fans, who the duo always referred to as friends. Eddie Montgomery hasn't tweeted since Sept. 3, and the duo's official Twitter page has been dormant outside of officially confirming the 50-year-old's death and announcing last Thursday's public celebration of his life.

Friends, Family and Country Music Remember Troy Gentry

On Friday (Sept. 15), Montgomery Gentry also released a new song called "Better Me" to digital music streaming sites and retailers. It's not clear if the Gentry-led uptempo song of redemption is an official radio single, although many stations quickly played it. Prior to the tragedy the duo had finished a studio album for Average Joes Entertainment, but the 2018 release date was set prior to Gentry's death. It's not clear if or when Montgomery Gentry will release future music.
