Months after the passing of Dierks Bentley's longtime best friend, Jake, the country star and his family have adopted an adorable new pup. There's just one problem — they don't have a name for him yet.

Bentley was devastated when Jake passed away in July after battling cancer. The singer had rescued the mixed-breed dog from the pound back in his early, struggling days in Nashville, and he and Jake had been together ever since. Bentley even brought Jake along to the opening of his Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit in March, explaining that Jake had witnessed every step of his journey to country stardom.

“Jake’s been with me through every phase of my career, since before I had a publishing deal … before I even had a gig, really,” Bentley recalled. “When I got my first gigs downtown, he’d be waiting there in the windowsill. He actually wore out a little spot in the couch where he’d wait for me. I’d come home real late, and he’d be there sitting in the window, putting in his time. Those were his years of grinding, sitting in the window waiting for me.”

But as sad as Bentley has been about Jake's passing, he knew it was time for him and his family to find a new companion for their other dog, George, who has been lonely in Jake's absence. The singer posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday (Sept. 14), showing the sweet family going into the Nashville Humane Society, then emerging with a too-cute-for-words new pup — who seems a little apprehensive about being carried by Bentley's oldest daughter, Evie.

“In and out in about 10 minutes. We got a dog. We don’t have a name yet. We got a dog,” Bentley states, while Evie merrily sings, "We got a dog!"

With their track record of adoption and longterm commitment to their canine companions, we have no doubt that Bentley and his family will provide a great home for what's-his-name, but they still need to call him something! What do you think they should name the adorable little pooch? Let us know in the comments section below.
