Dierks Bentley is a known hockey lover, and this weekend he’ll get to lace up his skates for real. The “Somewhere on a Beach” singer and 2016 ACM Awards host will take part in a Nashville Predators’ NHL alumni game on Sunday (Feb. 28).

The puck will drop around 5PM at the Bridgestone Arena on Sunday, after the Preds (Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher’s team) play the St. Louis Blues. Bentley is an avid fan and does his best to play when he can. For years he’s skated with the Nashville Iceholes, an amateur team.

Former Predators playing include Jay More, Sebastien Bordeleau and Kimmo Timonen, according to the Tennessean. The Preds alumni will face off against St. Louis Blues alumni.

Bentley got some on-ice practice during the NHL All Star game last month. There, the singer participated in the skills competition with current forward James Neal.

His allegiance to the Preds runs deep, and he’s used the team’s resources to help promote albums. Prior to the 2012 release of Home, he filmed a trick-shot video with Shea Weber. Weber is still with the team, although injuries have forced him to miss recent games.

The appearance continues a busy start of 2016 for the singer. His Summer on the Beach Tour will begin later this year, but in addition to his hockey events he's prepping for his first appearance as host at the ACM Awards and a new album. The Black album is expected in the spring or summer.
