A Lubbock man who inadvertently shot a woman in her back in 2013 has been sentenced to five years in prison, with time served for nearly three.

Judge William R. Eichman leaned toward leniency for 20-year-old Daytron Deon Hood. According to Everything Lubbock, Judge Eichman said Hood now has a chance to turn his life around.

Hood was accused of aggravated assault in 2013 when he discharged his weapon into a group of people, striking a woman inside a nearby home in her back. The following year, Hood and another man were arrested for aggravated robbery after robbing a woman in the Depot District.
