During the filming of the hit 1996 movie,"Jerry Maguire", actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. says his father completely embarrassed him. Gooding, Jr. was introducing his father to megastar Tom Cruise, and his father plunged into a conversation with Tom. Gooding said in the interview, "He gave Tom Cruise a hug and said, 'I love you, man. Now seriously, are you gay or not?'" Gooding, Jr says, "I almost fainted...and thought, please Lord let me disappear."

And how did Cruise react? Gooding, Jr. says he just laughed and said "No". But Gooding, Jr. then banned Gooding, Sr. from the film's set. Cuba Gooding,Jr. went on to win an Oscar for playing football star, Rod Tidwell, in the movie. And I'll bet he wouldn't trade it for anything, not even the mystical chance of time-traveling back and not having his dad ever meet Tom Cruise. Here's a terrific scene from that great movie that makes the embarrassment seem minor.
