In a story that escalated quickly, the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with running back Joseph Randle on Tuesday.

The third year pro was given the chance to be the Cowboys lead back after the departure of DeMarco Murray. But after multiple hiccups with the coaching staff, leaving practice early when he found out he was demoted and a series of off-field issues, the Cowboys decided to excuse Randle from the team.

It was also widely reported last week that Randle is battling a mental affliction and has had recent bouts with paranoia.

The Cowboys' backfield team will now be lead by Darren McFadden with Christine Michael and Rod Smith his reinforcements.

Regardless of Randle's mental health, the future of the former Oklahoma State Cowboy is foggy at best.

A domestic dispute between Randle and his girlfriend last off-season has him facing a suspension under the NFL's new player conduct policy and could scare away any remaining interest from other teams.
