Sunday afternoon, the City of Lubbock issued an update concerning the broken water line in North Lubbock.

Public works crews are continuing repairs on the ruptured water line on North University Avenue near Cesar Chavez Drive.

Traffic has been affected on one part of North University Avenue.  Southbound traffic on North University Avenue at the Canyon Lakes System crossing has been reduced to one lane as crews continue repairs. .

According to city officials, the Boil Water Notice will be in effect until repairs to the broken pipe can be made; the system refilled, flushed, and the water tested. Only those residents and businesses in the affected areas will need to boil their water.

The areas affected are:
- Hillcrest Country Club subdivision between Kent and Purdue Streets and University and Boston Avenues
- The businesses along the North University Avenue corridor north of Loop 289 including X-FAB, AT&T and the State Supported Living Center
- The area north of Erskine Street and south of Loop 289 between North Avenue X and Cesar Chavez Drive

Repairs to the affected area could be completed in the next 24 to 48 hours.
