Trace Adkins will help usher in the Christmas season as part of the 15th annual 'Christmas in Rockefeller Center' television special, which will also feature performances from artists Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green, Victoria Justice, Chris Mann and Rod Stewart, among others.

Every year, the highlight of the annual special is the lighting of the world-famous, nearly 80-foot-tall Christmas tree that is erected each year in Rockefeller Center. The tree was first placed in 1933, when it was decorated with over 700 lights. NBC televised the lighting of the tree beginning in 1951. Today, it takes more than 30,000 lights to decorate the tree each year, according to CBS News.

Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride and Rascal Flatts have all performed during previous 'Christmas in Rockefeller' specials.

NBC will air the 2012 Christmas special live from New York City's Rockefeller Center on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 8PM ET.
