Chris Young knows how to make the spirits bright for many this 2016 holiday season.

It all started on Friday (Dec. 17) when Young launched a campaign on Twitter, calling on fans to tweet at him what they want for Christmas. His original plan was to surprise a handful of lucky fans with their small Christmas wishes, but turned into something much bigger when they started asking for less material items and more charitable intentions.

Young was so blown away by the generous spirit of his fans that he made donations to causes of their choice, replying back to some who tweeted their wishes at him. One user revealed that her husband recently survived a four-way bypass surgery, prompting the country singer to generously offer to donate $500 in his name to the charity of their choice. He made the same offer to another fan who said their Christmas wish is to be cancer free.

This is just one way the "Gettin' You Home" has given back in 2016. He recently partnered with the CMA to host a toy drive for Toys for Tots, benefiting children impacted by the devastating wildfires in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Young also participated in Dolly Parton's telethon for her My People Fund, with the proceeds going toward families who lost their homes in the fires. In addition, the country star created a yearly scholarship for recording students at his alma mater, Middle Tennessee State University.

He and Season 3 The Voice winner Cassadee Pope are up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards for their collaboration on "Think of You."
