It's another weekend and even though it might be a little chilly in Lubbock, you'll keep warm with the number of events available. For instance, there "Chocolate Fantasia" going on at Llano Estacado Winery Saturday with chocolate of all kinds--chocolate sculptures and chocolate samples benefiting the Parkinsonism Society. And on Friday check out the events going on at the Legacy Event Center at 1500 14th featuring photography, paintings, glass art, watercolors, great food and live music as part of the First Friday Art Trail.

There's plenty of music going on as well as this is a weekend to honor Lubbock's native son, Buddy Holly. It was on Feb. 3, 1959, that his plane crashed killing him along with Richie Valens, the Big Bopper(J.P. Richardson) and the pilot Roger Peterson. The Buddy Holly Center in the Depot district is holding a number of events and free admission all day Friday and Friday night at the Cactus Theatre, a Holly Tribute show is being performed.

Music elsewhere around town this weekend features the Flying J Wranglers Saturday night at the Cactus, Brad Ethridge is at Triple Js restaurant Friday and Georgia and the Alchemists are there Saturday. Plus you have a number of movies opening this weekend. Laura Hamblett, manager of Movies Sixteen, says one film that's great for the entire family is "Big Miracles" opening Friday night. And she advises to take kleenex. Just watch this trailer and see if you don't get a little teary-eyed.
