Lubbock police officers discovered a 3-year-old child left alone inside a home filled with broken glass and feces Friday afternoon.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, officers responding to an alarm forced their way into a home after they were unable to get someone inside to open it and feared something was wrong.

Once inside the home, the officers discovered an unattended 3-year-old child. They also found feces and broken glass strewn throughout the house.

The officers notified CPS, and the child was taken from the home.

During the course of the investigation, the child's mother, Jerusalem Rodriquez, returned home. After learning she had left the child alone since noon, officers arrested Rodriguez and transported her to the Lubbock County Detention Facility.

Rodriguez was arrested for Abandoning or Endangering Child.
