Charlier Shafter live at JAB Fest 2018

So much Texas Country talent was on display at this year's JAB Fest. Early in the day, up-and-comer Charlie Shafter lit up the stage with a great performance.

The singer may just be getting started making a name for himself, but he's in it for the long haul, saying he wants to be playing music when he's 60 years old.

From Shafter's Facebook page:

"Most of the songs come out of a struggle, really. I think anything hard to do is indicative of something that will last. I don’t necessarily see my songs as something that will make money, but I see them as steps on a road that will last, potentially, my entire life. I want to write songs that I will be happy playing when I am 60, not songs I’ll look at in five years and say ‘what was I thinking?'"

Shafter's turn at JAB Fest 2018 no doubt earned him new fans.

This year's JAB Fest harked back to one-day shows it used to be. But not by choice. Friday's show was canceled due to weather after just one artist (Kaitlin Butts) performed. But on Saturday, things got crazy. Josh Abbott Band headlined, with Casey DonahewMike RyanRandall King, Charlie Shafter and Jordan Robert Kirk. It was a big night of solid performances and a tremendous crowd turnout.

Great to see y'all at this year's, JAB Fest. We're already counting the days until next year's show.
