A Lubbock teen's horrifying experience has sparked a new interest in how burglars are marking homes as targets: blue tape.

According to Everything Lubbock, a Lubbock woman's teen daughter was home alone when she noticed two men outside the home. The young girl had called her mother during the entire incident and was told to describe the two men.

One, described as a 5'10", Caucasian or light-skinned Hispanic wearing glasses, a button-up shirt and slacks, repeatedly knocked on the front door and rang the doorbell. His attempts to get someone to come to the door lasted for more than 20 minutes, she said.

The other man, which the girl had noticed in the backyard looking through the home's windows, was 5'10" tall, black, wearing casual clothing and a backpack.

After returning, the mother said she found blue tape on the bottom of her front door - something an employee at the Lubbock Sheriff's Department told her lets burglars know if a person isn't home.

One of the woman's neighbors had a similar run-in with the two men and captured surveillance footage of them around their home.
