For it being the “First Annual” Blondes v Brunettes Football game for the Lubbock Alzheimer’s Association it was a HUGE success!

On Saturday, June 21st – around 2000 people came out to the Jones AT&T Stadium to watch girls play football!  And an exciting game it was!  Down to the last minutes!

Brunettes won by ONE point – the final score was 20-19!

Lubbock High School AD and Head Football Coach Jason Strunk coached the Brunettes while Lubbock High School Assistant Head Football Coach Neal Null coached the Blondes.

This BvB game was dedicated to the Dykes family in honor of the late Sharon Dykes (wife of Spike Dykes) who battled and lost her fight against Alzheimer’s in 2010.

[/caption]Rick Dykes did the coin toss for the game and was recognized at the awards presentation during the after party at the Cactus Courtyard in the Depot.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury sent a special video recording that played on the Jumbotron at the end of the 2nd Quarter.  The Cheer teams from TexStar entertained the crowd during halftime with cheerleading and dance.

The after party took place at The Cactus Courtyard at 18th and Buddy Holly with Haden Huse performing.

Again – I this event was a huge success bringing in over $40k for the Alzheimer’s Association in Lubbock and I look forward to participating again next year with the reigning champs – “The Bru Crew”!
