While several of the biggest 2012 ACM Awards will be doled out April 1 during the live telecast on CBS, time restrictions keep the other honorees from being awarded on-camera. For those awards that won’t make the televised time slot — Special Awards, Industry Awards, Musician, Bandleader and Instrumentalist (MBI) and Songwriter of the Year — the Academy of Country Music is hosting its sixth annual ACM Honors event on Sept. 24, 2012, in Nashville.
Three weeks ago, we reported that Lady Antebellum had opened up a competition, agreeing to come perform for 45 minutes at the prom of the high school who submitted the best video via their website. They invited YouTube submissions and promised to review them and choose their favorite, selecting that school as the lucky high school who got to have an ‘Own the Night’-themed prom, complete with a Lady A concert.
Saturday night (March 17) Miranda Lambert and her touring crew hit Broomfield, Colo.’s 1st Bank Event Center. During her show, Lambert invited another powerful female vocalist — and fellow ‘The Voice‘ mentor — to take the stage with her. Surprising the audience, Kelly Clarkson emerged and offered up her recent single ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ from her fifth studio album, 2011′s ‘Stronger,’ as well as Lambert’s own ‘Gunpowder and Lead’ with the help of the blonde country starlet herself.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill kicked off their joint Australian tour this week, and tonight they’re giving a performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. While the two country celebs will do their fair share of getting ready for the event, they’re not neglecting their other full-time jobs either: being parents to daughters Gracie, Maggie and Audrey.
Taylor Swift penned two songs for the soundtrack to the soon-to-be-blockbuster film ‘The Hunger Games,’ and the sweet blond starlet — who’s accustomed to writing from her own perspective — recently told Rolling Stone that it was nice to step out of her own mind for a change. ”It’s pretty intense writing about my own life, my own struggles,” she admitted. “It was almost like a vacation to get to write from someone else’s perspective.”
It turns out that Eric Church‘s wildly successful Blood Sweat and Beers Tour is quite appropriately named, as the singer has encountered some roadblocks along the way that just might make a grown man want to cry — or at least reach for a cold one. Church, who has seen tons of his tour dates sell out before his eyes, filed a lawsuit Tuesday (March 13) to stop vendors who are illegally manufacturing and selling merchandise bearing his name and likeness.
Carrie Underwood just offered up a sneak peek behind the curtain of her ‘Good Girl’ music video, which the star released this week to an expectant crowd. Speaking of the video, which features a dark, exotic Carrie and a frilly, pretty-in-pink Carrie, the singer says it’s not about a bad girl and a good girl so much as an innocent girl and her more experienced self.
Carrie Underwood recently covered SELF magazine for the fourth time, and in her interview the beautiful country starlet opened up about some of her secrets for staying healthy and happy, as well as revealing that she’s still starry-eyed for hockey playing husband Mike Fisher. Though Underwood admits there are things the two are still learning — her “conservative” husband occasionally asks her if she thinks her dress might be a bit short — Underwood seems more than happy to consider her husband when selecting her wardrobe.
What do you do when a band has taken home every possible award and still continues to amaze? Think up another creative way to honor them. On Sunday night (March 11), the multi-Grammy Award-winning trio Lady Antebellum received plaques at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., congratulating them on their 15th consecutive sold out tour date on their We Own the Night 2012 World Tour.
Just a couple weeks after a string of deadly, tornado-laden storms ripped through the southeast, Rodney Atkins is going live on the radio station WRIL-The Big 106 to host a radio drive raising money for the storm victims. Atkins will especially be growing support for those communities that took the hardest hit in the March 2 storms – Harrogate, Tenn., West Liberty, Ky., and East Bernstadt, Ky.
It’s nothing new to hear of a country star bringing a special guest onstage to help with a song — in fact, it happens all the time. But sometimes said stars pull adorable little girls out of the audience to help them finish out their set at the Opry, and that’s an entirely different story. At his sold-out Grand Ole Opry show on Friday (March 9), Keith Urban did just that, adding a giant dose of adorable to the end of his performance.
It’s a bromance made in heaven. The tall, handsome cowboy who’s hesitant to show his soft side meets the artistic, brooding rocker who wears his feelings like a name tag. No, it’s not the preview for another terrible made-for-TV movie — it’s the man crush action happening between Blake Shelton and his fellow ‘The Voice‘ coach Adam Levine. If you’ve watched the show, you’ve seen the sparks flying from that first red chair to that fourth one. And in a recent interview with MTV, the country star opened up and admitted his feelings.
