The Band Perry performed their smash crossover hit ‘If I Die Young,’ which truly put the threesome on the map, at Dick Clark’s big party last night (Dec. 31). The trio soared through the song on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.’ The event took place in both New York and Hollywood, with the Bant Perry’s performance airing from the West Coast.
The always lovely Lauren Alaina had a terrific 2011, placing second on ‘American Idol’ and releasing her well-received debut album, ‘Wildflower.’ She capped off the year by performing her fast-paced single ‘Georgia Peaches’ on Fox’s ‘American Country New Year’s Eve Live’ special last night (Dec. 31) in Las Vegas.
The Band Perry had a banner year in 2011, due in large part to the crossover success of ‘If I Die Young.’ They will soar into 2012 with another heralded appearance. The trio of siblings will perform the national anthem at the AT&T Cotton Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on Jan. 6, reports CMT.
Te 2012 Super Bowl takes place on Feb. 5 in Indianapolis, and the city is taking the hosting of the NFL event seriously. The powers-that-be have invited some country stars to be a part of the festivities. The city’s Pan Am Plaza is being turned into something called Super Bowl Village from Jan. 27 through Feb. 4, and country stars Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker are on board to perform during those dates. Bentley and Rucker are essentially on the entertainment road leading up to the actual big game.
It’s that time again, country fans! The 2012 season of ‘American Idol’ will kick off this January. It’ll be the show’s 11th season and let’s hope that this season follows the same trajectory as the last, when the final two contestants were country artists! Will Scotty McCreery‘s heir apparent make it to the top? Will we find our next Lauren Alaina? It’s certainly an exciting prospect, since country music dominated the show last season. That trend could very well continue into 2012.
Keith Urban is about to go on “complete vocal lockdown” for three weeks after he has throat surgery, so he took two minutes to issue a video message, thanking fans their support, love, cards, messages and gift baskets. Urban is about to have a polyp surgically removed and is expected to make a full recovery.
An artist truly has made it when he or she is profiled on ’60 Minutes.’ Taylor Swift is the latest music star to be featured on the news magazine program, which looked at her role as the poet laureate of puberty, the spokeswoman responsible for a generation of young girls — and her famous open mouth, hands on cheeks expression of shock and awe whenever fans scream for her or when she picks up another award. The profile also examined how she’s managed to cross genres and remain beloved in both the country and pop worlds.
Miranda Lambert joined fellow blond Chelsea Handler on ‘Chelsea Lately’ last night (Nov. 17). The acid-tongued Handler is known for her sarcastic humor and her whip-smart dialogue with her guests, so we were anxious to see how the equally ballsy and funny Lambert would play off of that particular interview style. It was as fun as we expected it to be, between these two sassy gals.
Taylor Swift‘s 2012 dance card keeps filling up, and 2011 still has two-and-a-half months left! The singer has been busy penning songs for the follow-up album to ‘Speak Now,’ which is due out next year. She will undoubtedly be promoting her debut fragrance Wonderstruck through the end of this year and beyond, as it’s a long-term promotional commitment. But Swift recently dropped another hint as to what she’ll be up to: She may have an acting gig in her future.
2011 has been a banner year for ‘American Idol’ winner Scotty McCreery. He’s developed into such a beloved country music superstar that anything is possible for the teen — maybe even a movie based on his meteoric rise. In a rapid fire series of questions offered up by the CMA blog, McCreery revealed which hot young Hollywood actor he would like to step into his boots in a biopic.
