The Levelland Fire Marshal's Office has launched an investigation into two fires that occurred on Monday morning.

Both fires were believed to be set intentionally.

The first fire was reported just before 5:30 a.m. at an empty home on Houston Street near West Avenue resulting in $35,000 worth of damages.

The second fire which resulted in hundreds of dollars worth of damages, began inside a trailer less than two hours after the first fire and just a few blocks away on 10th St. near avenue N.

Levelland Fire Marshal Jay McKay told KAMC News that the suspect appeared to use grass clippings to start the fire. McKay later requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s office and the investigation is on-going.
