It seems the 56 year old Gottfried tweeted some tasteless tweets concerning the recent disaster in Japan, where Aflac does about 3/4 of their business.  The company which has been doing business in Japan since 1974, has already donated $1.2 million to International Red Cross, and is  expecting an influx of claims in the wake of the disaster.

An Aflac executive says, "Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac". The company says Gottfried is not the voice of the duck in Japan, but the Aflac mascot there has a softer, sweeter voice in Japanese commercials.   And,  if you think you've got the voice for it,  the company will hold a nationwide casting call to find someone else to voice the Aflac duck in the U.S.
