It's ABC Pro Rodeo time this week, and the 76th Annual Rodeo promises to be another tremendous event with incredible rodeo action and entertainment for the whole family.

Lonestar 99.5 had the opportunity to talk to two of the cowboy protection guys who work with the bulls, Wacy Munsell from Kansas and Evan Allard from Oklahoma.

It's great to have an opportunity to understand how they do what they do, which is run interference between the cowboys and the bull.

Evan Allard shared his insights: "What's really awesome about Lubbock is we also have a freestyle bullfight....there's no feeling in the world like an animal that can kill you, is chasing you, and your making it do what you want it to do...I always say once you get past being scared, because it's scary, but once you can put that aside, it's an art form....it's pretty special."

This interview was really great and these guys are the best. Don't miss hearing all they have to say in the video above.

Every rodeo performance includes mutton bustin', saddle bronc, bare back, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding and the bull fights!

Top riders compete Thursday March 29th, Friday, March 30th and the Saturday matinee on March 31st, plus the big Saturday night finale. It's big performances from big names like the bull fighters we talked to, Wacy Munsell and Evan Allard. Plus, rodeo clown Andy Burelle and pro rodeo announcer Greg Simas.

Buy a raffle to get in to win the John Deere Gator on display in our pictures above. The winner will be drawn at the Saturday night performance.

As always, it's an incredible effort, by dedicated volunteers to help our area children of The Lubbock Boys and Girls Club. Support this great cause, get your tickets, and your raffles.

The ABC Pro Rodeo goes down at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Visit the ABC Pro Rodeo website for all the details.

We'll see y'all at the rodeo!
