According to these interactive maps from The Wall Street Journal, "American Sniper," the movie about Texan Chris Kyle starring Bradley Cooper, could clean house.

The site came up with the numbers by using Facebook conversations from January to February. The study claims "American Sniper" was getting 80 percent of the conversation. Clint Eastwood directed the film, which adds to its popularity of course.

The film about civil rights leader Martin Luther King, "Selma," did a little better in the south, but still nothing compared to the Chris Kyle film.

The other nominees -- "Birdman," "Boyhood," "Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Theory of Everything," "Imitation Game" and "Whiplash" -- had very small numbers around the country.

Having said that, this is NOT a popularity contest by the public. "American Sniper" has some stiff competition, and isn't exactly the type of film that wins Oscars. Bradley Cooper also has to go up again Michael Keaton in "Birdman" and Benedict Cumberbatch in "Imitation Game," among others strong contenders.

We'll find out Sunday night how the Chris Kyle biopic does. But regardless of the awards, it has won over the hearts of the American public and the dollars of theatergoers.
