Yes, Adolph's Grill & Bar has terrific karaoke and it's a really big deal. But possibly the biggest thing that sets Adolph's apart is their big heart. It's all about the people. Adolph's is a great, friendly place to be.

I talked to Adolph's manager, Robin. She said at Adolph's they really work hard to make sure everyone feels at home. They talk to you and lend an ear. You can walk in on your own and make friends.

She said, "It's a lot of old-school, it's kind of like family. We've got a lot of people that are regulars, that have been coming in for years and years that really enjoy coming in and hanging out with friends. And the karaoke's a really big deal."

"A lot of times when I see someone new and they don't know anybody when they walk through the door I introduce them to people...a lot of our groups, they'll pull you in," she said, adding that newcomers were invited to join in their conversations all the time.

"Good old west Texas hang out type deal," Robin said.

Adolph's is a great Lubbock place to party with a full bar, many big screen TVs, pool tables and great food.

I sat down at a high-top table with our group and we had some big beautiful burgers with all the trimmings. You just don't find burgers grilled up like this very often. It was terrific. They've got a delicious menu with tons of appetizers. Plus, they pour an awesome drink!

Karaoke was rolling and the stage was lit. Some of the Karaoke was so good I thought we were actually listening to the juke box. It was really great to see such super local talent up on stage.

Karaoke is a big part of the excitement there seven nights a week beginning at 9 p.m., except Wednesday's Ladies Night when they start karaoke at 6 p.m. You can call ahead to reserve tables for groups.

Saturday and Sunday they open at noon and have Texas Hold 'Em poker at 1 and 3:30 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

Adolph's Grilll and Bar has been a great Lubbock hangout for more than 40 years. They're celebrating 11 years this August at their current location at 54th and Aberdeen.

I can't thank the terrific group at Adolph's enough for their friendly smiles, great service and great food and drinks. See y'all soon!
